The world was already chaotic with a secret society of supernatural creatures hiding their existence from humans to simply survive. Throw in the afterlife and alternate universes and you've got some realms in desperate need of balance.

"You might not be lost, but you are a kid," Kodi responded to Autumn in a firm tone. "In fact, I don't want you going to and from school alone anymore! If your friends can't walk with you, then one of us will drop off or pick you up. And no sneaking out of class to go to the mall, understood?" he looked back at Harris. "As soon as I find out anything, I'll let you know."

John watched Adam leave, feeling helpless. He then looked back towards Clementine, just in time to catch her gaze before she quickly turned her head to look out over the fields once more. Bristling, John walked over to the doors and silently slipped out to join her. He carefully ensured the door was closed so that their conversation would be private before he moved to stand beside her. When he spoke, his voice was low so that only she would hear him. "I suppose you think you're quite clever."
"Whatever do you mean, Angel?"
"Save it. I don't know what kind of twisted mind game you're trying to play, but I will not tolerate it. Understand?"
"Well, if it isn't the pot calling the kettle black." Clementine sniped back.
"What are you-?"
"As if you're not using Adam for your own gain? Don't think me a fool, John. Or do you really expect me to believe that you're doing all of this just so you would be second in command of a new utopia?"
"How dare you!"
"You snatched me and dragged me into this! Adam, I can forgive because he's just been following your lead, but you, I have nothing but contempt for you! Just stay away from me!" Clementine moved to storm away, but John caught her arm, and his grip was tight enough to hurt. He leaned closer to her and whispered something that caused her face to turn momentarily paler. When he let her go, his fingers brushed the fresh bruising, causing it to vanish. He then stormed away from her, leaving her staring hard at the ground as her heart pounded in her chest. After a minute or so, she turned back to the fence to lean on it again. Her mind was racing as she gradually calmed down. After several more minutes, she silently returned to her little work station, more focused than she had been previously on creating the potion.

Kris's eyebrows raised slightly when he saw the damage done to the punching bag. "Not bad, if you were intending to kill your target. If you want to hit hard enough to stun, knock back or knock out your opponent, you only need to use a fraction of your power." He said as he stepped towards him and got a closer look at the punching bag. He listened to Blake and took a moment to think through his answer before he turned to face him. "There isn't an easy answer to that question," he said thoughtfully. "Everyone you ever meet is going to tell you that life is black and white. Good versus bad. But the truth is, that's a lie. Life is one big grey area. You're not wrong to feel angry, Blake. You have every right to be. But you also know that Violet was being genuine in her apology. It's not about the mistakes we made in our pasts; it's about what we do to change and whether those efforts make us worth saving. I've made mistakes before. I've hurt people. Killed people. The majority of what we do here involves robbing folks blind. To any average Joe out there, that would make me a 'bad guy'. But then that would be glossing over the rest of what I've done with my life. For instance, taking in wayward trickster kids to give them a home. A sense of family. Protection. Do you get what I'm trying to say, Blake?"

"Helena?" For a moment, Viktor forgot about his packing and threw the clothes that were in his hands onto the bed while he turned to face Leo fully. "Wha-what message? Has something happened?" His expression reflected his mixture of worry and shame. He never really stopped worrying about his sister, but he still felt guilty for the way he'd been brought up and what he had intended to do at the time.

"Control yourself." Shezmu hissed irritably into Lucretia's ear. "Do not embarrass me further," he warned her. "We will discuss this when we return to my home."

Atma smiled at Abaddon, but Death had spoken before she could reply. She decided they could always finish their conversation after the ceremony. A hush fell over the room when Death spoke, and all eyes fell on him.

Lilly took a deep breath, and when called forth, she stepped into the centre of the room to approach Death's throne. Recalling the instructions Azrael had sent to her, she knelt before him and lowered her head in respect. "I, Lillian De Morte, do hereby accept the title of Princess and heir to the Kingdom of Death." She began, and although her voice trembled, she tried her best to say the words clearly enough for everyone to hear her. "With this, I accept the duty and responsibility to the Kingdom, its citizens and the Reapers. I swear to serve and protect the Citizens of the Kingdom of Death. I swear to guide the Reapers to Reap souls with compassion, peace, patience and understanding.
Above all else, I swear to uphold The Balance by any means. May all present here today bear witness and keep me to my oath from this day until my last day."
All the way through her oath, she had a look of pure concentration from trying to remember the words and not stumble on them. As soon as she was finished speaking, she let out a silent sigh of relief and glanced up briefly at Death with a small smile. This was the part where she had to remain bowed to him until he'd tell her to rise as his equal to sit beside him as his heir. It would be the same process for Raven.

"There's a vampire here?" Layla asked, confused as she quickly looked around them.
"Of a kind, but something tells me old Clover here didn't mean me." Came a velvety voice close to them. Layla turned her head and was surprised by the human-looking woman watching them as she leaned against a tree close by. She was breath-takingly beautiful. Vibrant, red locks cascaded over her shoulders. Her long green dress was complemented by the natural colours of their surroundings. Her eyes stood out by being vastly different colours. One eye green, the other brown, making her all the more memorable. "I am rarely invited to such gatherings. Can't think why." The woman said playfully as she stepped closer to the pair, but she only seemed to have eyes for Nil as she lifted her hand towards him with the expectation that he'd kiss the back of it. "You may call me Leanan," she purred. "Leanan Sidhe. And I can make all of your dreams come true."
Layla felt blood rush to her face, and she rounded on Leanan, ready to say something out of jealousy, but someone else spoke before she could. Another human-looking woman. But this one smelled of algae and still had lake vegetation stuck in her messy, brown hair. Although she sported human legs, they were covered in moss-green coloured scales. A set of gills was on her neck. "You weren't invited, Lea. Leave them be." The amphibious woman said sternly. Layla noticed immediately that she had the faintest hint of a German accent.
"Oh, Greta. Daddy let you out to play, I see." Leanan retorted and then sneered at the girl. "Don't stay up too late, now. You know how he doesn't like that."
Greta bristled. She looked ready to throw hands.

Sebastian blinked away tears as he watched them, and then he reached over to gently pat Stevie's back. "Now come and say hello to your little sister," he whispered to him with a smile. Stevie blinked at Sebastian before letting Carter go and wiping his tears away hurriedly. He stepped closer to Sebastian to get a better look at the baby, but as he did, Sebastian surprised him by pushing the little bundle into his arms. "But-!" he gasped, but Sebastian smiled and shushed him.
"There you go, like that. Support her head, that's it. You've got her, big brother." Sebastian said as he carefully guided him on holding Rose properly.
"I'm holding her, right?" Stevie asked uncertainly, but couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Yep, she looks comfortable. Good job!" Sebastian said before standing and stepping closer to Carter. He brought his hands up to gently brush his tears away, all while smiling at him lovingly. This was a new start for all of them.

Stevie grinned, and as he looked at the baby, he considered what this meant. He had been afraid that he might hurt her, but now his fears had been replaced by a determination to keep her safe. "Sister..." he whispered as the reality set in. Rose stared back at Stevie with the same intensity that she had stared at Carter & Sebastian with. Learning every curve and detail of his face. Stevie couldn't help but chuckle at her staring. "Hey, Rose. I'm your- I-I'm your... I'm your brother." As he brought himself to say it out loud, he felt in his heart that it was right, and with this realisation, his smile grew a little more. "And I'm gonna keep you safe. I promise. I'm always going to be there for you, no matter what," he told her confidently and then hesitated before planting a soft kiss on her forehead. Sebastian chuckled as he watched Rose's eyebrows knit together momentarily at the kiss before continuing to stare interestedly at Stevie.

Autumn shouted, "I can help myself! I've accepted the fact that you can fight on your own! But you haven't accepted the idea that I don't always need you!" Tears streamed down her cheeks as she jumped out of the couch with her fists balled. "I hate you dad!"

She ran into her room and slam the door. Harris's eyes widened, "Did she just...?"

---

Blake nodded, "I-I think I get it." He turned away once he felt tears leaving him. "Don't look at me sir. This is a moment of weakness. I will do better."

---

Leo raised his hands, "Calm down. This is good news. Your sister says she wants to see you again if you're up for it."

---

Adam was crying in his bed. Hugging a pillow as he whispered, "John? Is she right? Am I even doing the right thing?"

---

Finding comfort in his anger, she nodded and stood like the angelic soldier she was, "Yes sir." Her moment of emotion had stopped altogether like she was use to hiding her feelings. Like it was part of her training.

Death spoke, "Rise my child and sit by my side."

Once Lily would sit on her own throne, Raven would walk up. He scratched up a bit of his cloak in his hands nervously until Conrad gave him a smile. Raven took a deep breath. He repeated the same oath but included his name instead.

Death repeated the phrase. Once both of his children were sitting by him, he smiled. "It is with great honor that I give you the Princess and Prince of Death! My children! Let us celebrate this day with friends and food!"

---

Clover hissed, "You shouldn't be here! You cause nothing but trouble! I was merely talking about the vampires in the castle." He set the cake down. "I don't like this. Anytime you're around Leanan, there is always something around the corner."

Nil looked at Leanan's hand before shaking it. "Hey I guess? And I'm good on wishes." He wrapped an arm around Layla with a smile, "I've got the best woman in my life.

---

Carter leaned his head against Sebastian's as he looked at Stevie and Rose. "This is really it. Another chance at having a family. I never thought I could ever....I'm so happy. I'm glad you came into my life Sebastian."
